Why resin for a car garage?

Since resins are generally more expesive than hardened concrete, "why" might be a reasonable question. So here is how resins outdo concrete: they are hermetic and chemically resistant. Resins are harder to stain by engine oil, coolant, brake fluid. Even road salt could impact the concrete floor, but not resin. This is why we recommend resins even for electronics service stations.

Pros and cons

Resins themselves don't constitute a structural layer (the resin coating is only 1,5 mm thick). So there must be a concrete slab beneath and this adds to a cost when we build a new shop. So we start by pouring a concrete slab, wait until it cures (usually 1 month), only then to get on with resin (which in turn hardens quickly, approx 7 days). Still, concrete + resin can cost as much as concrete + tiles, but more than hardened concrete alone.

However, when old floor is to be renewed, then resin shines. Old tiles or another top layer needs to be removed and the concrete grinded. Then pour resin (usually 2-3 layers). One of most cost efficient method of old concrete renovation!

Maintenance

Every self-respecting business owner lets the hall to be washed at least once a week. Usually with washing machine. And again resins have advantages, because they tend to be easier to clean than ceramic or concrete floors. Compared to tiles resin has close to none joints that tend to be penetrated by dirt and grease. Compared to hardened concrete in turn, epoxides are more stain resistant.

So they make better PR for us!
