Concrete floor: Supermarket, Discount Store

Pet supermarket concrete flooring

Hardened concrete floor at a pet supermarket. Rational choice and probably the cheapest solution for large interiors.

Dog bone, kitten, flooring

Project name: Maxi Zoo store at a shopping mall

Technology: Hardened concrete flooring, platinum

Possible use: store, supermarket, discount store, warehouse, shopping mall, retailer chain

How is low per square meter cost attained?

Monolithic concrete technology provides for spreading and finishing the floor within 24 hours time. The slab makes both structural and finishing layer (the latter thanks to a hardener troweled into it). Hence the low cost of such floor type. We don't need tile or wooden floor contractors any more.

With tiles, wood or carpet we would pour structural concrete slab first, then, after several days, a cement floor base, to later lay down the finishing layer (ceramic, carpet, parquet). Obviously the process would last a month at least (or longer with parquet that needs dried-up slab).

Supermarket concrete floor maintenance

Hardened concrete makes the flooring of choice for shops, discount stores, medium- and large-format supermarkets due to ability to carry forklift traffic.

Secondly - easy concrete maintenance - can be dry and wet washed on regular basis.

Marketing aspect is worth considering too. Some stores position themselves as discounts; since they want to be perceived as "cheap" - they are fitted with concrete floor, and display goods for sale on pallets.

On the other hand we notice a new trend - making concrete floors in exclusive boutiques with industrial or simple, Scandinavian interiors - example: cosmetic shop. In such cases, we suggest mixing two hardener colours and polishing the flooring.

Considering concrete floor for your hypermarket, supermarket, discount store, boutique? Whether you are an investor or designer, we will advise and help select cost-effective, visually-attractive flooring system. Check markets we supply.

Supermarket shopwindow, parking

Pet supplies shopwindow, Bautech floor has been built-in here. While paving, sett had been chosen for the parking lot, Bautech offers equally interesting Pressbeton® available in tens of textures.

Store shelves, baskets

Typical for supermarkets and discount stores are considerable point loads generated by shelves. Concrete floor proves ideal in such conditions.

Euro-pallets, concrete floors

Euro pallets - inherent to discount shops. While our basic Multitop® dry shake topping will withstand loads as on the photograph, we recommend metallic Bautop® Enduro hardener to resist people and vehicle traffic (abrasion).

Kids corner

A carpet can be spreaded in kids corner.

Toys, dog feeder

With concrete flooring a forklift or a pallet truck can be used to distribute foodstuffs. The surface is easy to maintain. Similarly functional are ceramic tiles (though they may crack with polyamide wheeled forklifts and they generally look unattractive after years because of various defects; they are more expensive than concrete too). Wooden and carpet floors, in turn - while they make atmospehere - are not quite as good for supermarkets that move goods with pallet trucks.
